The tallest roller coasters in the world
Achtbaan published a guide to the ten tallest roller coasters in the world, from Falcons Flight at 163 metres to Orion, and how coaster height is measured.
Achtbaan has published a guide to the tallest roller coasters in the world.
Falcons Flight in Saudi Arabia, which opened at the end of 2025, now holds the record: its tallest hill stands 163 metres above the ground. The guide explains why it is sometimes advertised at about 200 metres, lists the ten tallest coasters operating today with their Achtbaan thrill scores, and covers what replaced Kingda Ka, the tallest coaster in Europe (Red Force, at 112 metres) and the tallest wooden coasters. It also shows why height alone does not make a coaster the most thrilling: Formula Rossa, only 52 metres tall, ranks second on Achtbaan.
While preparing it, Achtbaan checked the figures for every coaster it names and corrected seven of them, including the height of El Toro. Read it at achtbaan.com.
